Who we are
The Greater Lafayette Chess Club is an informal local chess community. We are a small, growing group, and our meetups are casual by design. There are no rated tournaments, no lessons, and no membership dues — just people who enjoy chess getting together to play.
The area we serve
We welcome players from across the Greater Lafayette area, including:
- Lafayette
- West Lafayette
- Purdue University
- Tippecanoe County
- Nearby communities
Who can attend
Everyone is welcome. Some of our players have tournament experience, while others are complete beginners or returning to chess after years away. You do not need a rating, a membership, or any prior experience — if you enjoy chess or want to learn, you belong here. Younger players are welcome with a parent or guardian.
Where we are headed
We are still a growing group, and we are keeping things simple while we build a reliable local community. Over the long term, as more players get involved, we hope to explore additional activities — things like club matches, casual competitions, and group analysis. None of that is happening yet, and we would rather grow steadily than overpromise.
For now, the best way to help is simple: come to a meetup, bring a friend, and help us make chess easier to find in the Greater Lafayette area.
