About the club
Built one game at a time.
The Greater Lafayette Chess Club gives local players a dependable place to meet across the board. The group includes students, longtime residents, tournament regulars, and people returning to chess after years away.
A club night
There is no formal pairing system. When a board opens, players find an opponent and begin. You can play quickly, take your time, watch another game, or talk through a position afterward. Bringing a set or clock helps, though there is usually equipment to share.
Your first visit
You don’t need a rating, tournament experience, or a reservation. Younger players can attend with a parent or guardian. If you’re unsure where to start, introduce yourself to an organizer and we’ll help find a good first game.
Where the club goes next
As attendance grows, club matches, small competitions, and group analysis may become possible. For now, the priority is simpler: keep putting local chess players in the same room and make each gathering worth returning to.
